The latest version of the Zoom Desktop software carries several updates that impact the classroom. Let us start with the most impactful and that revolves around breakout rooms. With the update, you will be able to create, remove and rename breakout rooms after they have already been launched. This means that you can create another group while the breakouts have already begun, which is very helpful for creating a new group for late-arriving students.

Add a Room Option that remains available after Breakout Rooms are Open

Another feature update that impacts the online classroom is the ability to save a customized Gallery view, so this way if you have a fixed location where students appear on screen, you wouldn’t have to manually adjust their video stream location each time. A few updates ago, we shared the new feature called Focus Mode, this current update allows you to schedule meetings with focus mode enabled from the beginning.

Last on the list of updated features is an expanded emoji suite. The update offers almost 900 additional emojis for use in meeting chats and is available in a variety of skin tones. These emojis can be helpful to inject a little levity into a chat message. As always, these features are available when using the most recent versions of the desktop app.

A variety of Emoji options are available for use in Chat
