Thank-a-Professor

Mostly decorative Thank A Professors for all of their hard work.

Near the end of the Fall Semester in 2022 we asked students to share Thank You Notes with their faculty members to express their gratitude for their hard work through our Thank a Professor Program. We collected over 2000 thank you messages from students to their faculty members. At the start of 2023 we shared those notes with the respective faculty members, college Deans and University administration. The video above was filmed with a sample of the students that we interviewed about the difference their faculty members made for them. Additionally, our Faculty Professional Development team reached out to some of the recipients of those notes and asked them to share their techniques with their colleagues. The links to the recordings from those presentations can be found in the Workshops/Presentations Year in Review. We just closed our 2023 Thank a Professor Thank You Note collection and look forward to sharing students’ notes with you early next year.

Educator Competency Framework

A circular flowing layout showing the connections of the LEC Educator Competency Framework. which includes the following pieces: Acting with Integrity Embracing, Belonging, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Creating Learner-Centered Environments Designing Effective Learning Experiences Using Innovative Teaching Strategies & Technology

The LEC Educator Competency Framework was developed in collaboration with the LEC Advisory Council to communicate what knowledge, skills, and attitudes we value in our faculty, staff, and administrators who serve in the role of educating our students. We use the framework to guide our faculty development programming and professional development initiatives. To learn more about the framework, you can watch “Overview of the LEC’s Educator Competency Framework.” In addition, LEC’s Faculty Professional Development Catalog is an online catalog listing professional development sessions organized by the five competency categories: Acting with Integrity, Embracing Belonging, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, Creating Learner-Centered Environments, Designing Effective Learning Experiences, and Using Innovative Teaching Strategies and Technology.
