A Comprehensive Review of 2024

A Message from Our Executive Director – LEC’s Year in Review – 2024

As 2024 draws to a close, the Learning and Educational Center (LEC) proudly reflects on an extraordinary year filled with many achievements and milestones. This year has been especially significant, highlighted by an impressive 48% increase in faculty participation in our workshop offerings – a testament to our growing engagement within our NSU teaching and learning community.

A standout moment for us this year was our third annual Teaching and Learning Conference, “Raising the Bar: Educating the Modern Learner.” With increased participation, this event brought together NSU faculty and thought leaders to share innovative strategies and best practices for advancing teaching and learning excellence. Another notable highlight was our thought-provoking Generative AI Series, presented in collaboration with the Writing and Communication Center. This series sparked some dynamic faculty discussions about the transformative impact of Generative AI on education and communication, resulting in some forward-thinking dialogue among our faculty.

What an incredible year it has been!

It is with heartfelt appreciation and gratitude that I extend my thanks to our faculty, our many guest lecturers, and the LEC Advisory Council for their invaluable contributions and unwavering support of the LEC. We look forward to continuing our shared pursuit of excellence in the year ahead!

Best Wishes,

Diane M. Lippe Ed.S | Executive Director

LEC Initiatives in 2024

This was another productive year in the LEC. We hosted our third annual Teaching and Learning Conference, “Raising the Bar: Educating the Modern Learner.” We are especially grateful to each of our presenters as well as the conference attendees. In case you missed any of the sessions check out the complete archive of the 2024 T&L Conference session recordings are available in SharkMedia!

The LEC’s popular Thank-A-Professor program was in full swing yet again, receiving over 2,000 thank you message recipients.

Additionally, we have been able to connect with even more faculty members through our DesignLink program which connects Instructional Designers to faculty who want to improve their course design and materials. The initiative has continued to be well received by faculty and created opportunities for us to work with faculty across the University.

LEC Workshops & Presentations in 2024

This year’s professional development opportunities continued to be diverse and impactful, featuring a range of workshops, trainings, and rich discussions led by LEC staff and University partners. The LEC was honored to host University experts who shared their knowledge in various areas, such as student engagement and Generative AI.

Our Classic Rewind series was a highlight, bringing back some presenters from the 2023 Teaching and Learning Virtual Conference. Additionally, our partnership with the Writing and Communication Center for the Teaching and Learning AI series attracted over 340 registrants, eager to explore how AI can enhance pedagogical practices.

We also maintained our regular application training sessions, introducing three new offerings to further support our community.
