In recent updates to Zoom, new features have been added that may enhance the learning experience when engaging with your students. These include the ability to sort your gallery view in several ways, new chat features which include expanded tools, a better chat experience in breakout rooms, and the inclusion of participant names and screen sharing in immersive view. Zoom has recently added some exciting new features that you can use during a class session. The new avatar feature allows for users to create custom human avatars, expanding on the previously included animal avatars. Poll features have also been expanded, allowing hosts to create and edit polls during a session rather than having to set them up in advance.

Zoom has recently redesigned their virtual whiteboard experience to bring you an all-new Zoom Whiteboard. NSU users can now create whiteboards before, during, or after a meeting, save whiteboards for future use, and share whiteboards outside of a meeting with anyone in our organization. Zoom has also enhanced the whiteboard with new templates, new shapes for organizational charts and diagrams, and new tools. An expanded set of tools is available when creating or editing a whiteboard outside a meeting. Some of these expanded tools include the ability to upload an image, insert tables, and use sticky notes.

After a recent update to the Zoom desktop application, hosts can also now broadcast their microphone audio to all breakout rooms. This feature is helpful if you want to give verbal guidance or instructions to the participants, or if you want to call participants back into the main room without closing the breakout room.
