The LEC encourages you to join our NSU Libraries Workshop for an introduction to downloadable resources, including popular reading, magazines, professional development tools, and academic eBooks.

Responding to students’ questions in an efficient and effective way can help reduce misunderstandings and improve student performance and engagement. This presentation will address the topic of student questions and how faculty can answer them in various forums from in-person office hours to online discussion boards.

Flipgrid is an easy to use tool to foster strong connections within a course. This tool is offered to educators for free and can be integrated into your Canvas Course to allow students and you the opportunity to record their responses to topics in fun and innovative ways. The social experience of letting students use creativity in composing their video allows them to engage with a topic stimulates thought provoking responses from the students and can also be entertaining. With this tool, you see the student’s emotions during their responses, which can generate a meaningful, more connected experience to any topic you ask them to share their opinions about.

This workshop is designed to show you different classroom technologies that can assist you in enhancing your online, blended, or face-to-face classroom experience. The instructor will take you step-by-step through each topic by telling you what it is, why you would use it, and demonstrate how to use it before you try it. This session will include topics like How to use the new Zoom features like the Timer App and Presentation Slide Controls as well as the Comment Library in Canvas.

The Microsoft Whiteboard application allows instructors to create an infinite, collaborative canvas for fostering effective and engaging learning with their students. Join us for this brief and interactive session, and start using the tool today!

Gear-up workshops are designed to give NSU faculty, students, alumni, and the general public an opportunity to engage with publishers, researchers, and librarians. This session will cover professor tools, provided by Wall Street Journal Digital, that integrate into their coursework. Additionally, there will be a short demo of Wall Street Journal Digital tools and how they work in promoting critical thinking and assessment strategies, especially using the seminar series. The Office of Student Disability Services and Access Plus will be hosting an Autism Awareness event the week of March 28th. We will be having an event on Tuesday, March 29th from 3:30pm-5:30pm specifically for faculty, staff, and graduate assistants in the Flight Deck. This event will include a presentation by Dr. Maribel Del Rio who will be discussing Access Plus, how their program collaborates with the Office of Student Disability Services, and strategies for faculty and staff when working with students on the spectrum. After the presentation, we will have a panel consisting of Access Plus and the Office of Student Disability Services to answer any questions. We will also be providing light refreshments.
