Description

This 1-hour workshop offers faculty, whether new, returning, or seasoned researchers, a high-level, non-technical overview to critically frame the role of AI in the research process. Faculty will explore how AI technologies integrate into the academic curriculum, what they can reliably support, their limitations, and how library resources help navigate this evolving landscape. Librarians will highlight AI features embedded in NSU Libraries’ resources and demonstrate how they support research and writing instruction. The session emphasizes an approach grounded in information literacy principles, fostering advanced critical thinking and ethical integration of AI into scholarship. Faculty will gain a clear framework for critically and ethically integrating AI into research and instruction and a practical understanding of how library-supported AI tools can enhance scholarly work while recognizing their limitations.

Learning Objectives:
By the end of the workshop, faculty will:
1. Identify library resources and research tools that integrate AI within the scholarly research process.
2. Evaluate the capabilities and constraints of AI tools when applied to real academic teaching and research contexts.
3. Assess the practical implications of using AI tools in research assignments
4. Design assignments that would reinforce information literacy and critical thinking skills in an AI mediated environment
