Annoto Interactive Video Available to Faculty and Students

Annoto is a tool that adds an interactive element to your video content, allowing instructors to create a variety of assessments and video-based activities facilitating active and collaborative learning experiences. The tool allows faculty to create interactions like quizzes and time coded discussions as an overlay on their existing video content. The tool works primarily with video from SharkMedia, our in-house video streaming platform. Starting today, any SharkMedia videos that have been embedded in a Canvas course will by default have an Annoto Message bubble (as pictured above).

 

For faculty, this bubble will give you and your students access to personal notes you can write about the video and a Quizzes tab to create a Quiz for students. Quizzes can include true/false, multiple choice, and multiple answer questions. The questions can be placed to appear at specific times within the video and can be made mandatory, also allowing for multiple attempts, along with specific feedback for correct and incorrect answers.

Along with the in-video quizzing feature comes grade pass back to Canvas. This feature allows quiz results to be recorded instantly in the gradebook. For more information on grade pass back and for steps on setting up in-video quizzing, please see this article. 

Also, by default, analytics will be enabled through the course Annoto dashboard. Faculty members will review analytics on students’ consumption of the video, insights on their views, engagements, collaboration, and the overall completion rate.

For Students, they will automatically gain access to a notes field which allows them to take time coded notes on the video content. These notes are reviewable only by them but can be downloaded for later use.

Within the Annoto Dashboard faculty can set preferences which offer additional options to allow for commenting, reactions, badge assignment and whole lot more.
