Description: The digital rocket ship is moving fast. Generative AI has turbocharged the engines. Both students and faculty are trying to hold on. Some students and faculty may feel pressured to constantly keep up with emerging technologies, leading to fatigue and burnout. Meanwhile, others embrace technology without limits, often overlooking its potential drawbacks and losing sight of the value of technology-free experiences. At the same time, there are benefits that come along with the use of learning technologies and students need to develop an informed skill set for digital tools in general, and generative AI in particular. How do we balance these two realities? In this session, we will explore course-level design strategies that integrate digital wellness practices – practices that seek to develop a healthy relationship with technology that balances the benefits and the drawbacks – without sacrificing academic integrity. How can course design guide healthy digital use for learning and beyond?
