If you have writing assignments in your course, then you already know that plagiarism can be a problem. This workshop will present the tool, Turnitin, which helps identify instances of potential plagiarism. During the workshop, you will learn about the various ways in which Turnitin can be used in your Canvas course so that you can begin screening writing assignments for plagiarism, as well as grammatical errors.

Learning Objectives:

  1. The learner will be able to define plagiarism.
  2. The learner will interpret the originality report of a student’s writing through the use of the Turnitin tool.
  3. The learner will be able to create an assignment that utilizes the Turnitin tool in a sample Canvas course.
  4. The learner will be able to distinguish when to use the external tool and when to use the plagiarism framework in Canvas when setting up a Turnitin assignment.
