Workshop: Exploring Turnitin in Canvas

Description:

If you have writing assignments in your course, you already know that plagiarism can be a problem. In this workshop, we present the tool, Turnitin, which helps identify instances of potential plagiarism. During the workshop, you will learn about the various ways in which Turnitin can be used in your Canvas course so that you can begin screening writing assignments for possible plagiarism and grammatical errors.

Learning Objectives: 

Upon completion of this workshop, learners will be able to:

  • Define plagiarism.
  • Interpret similarity report generated by Turnitin.
  • Create an assignment that utilizes the Turnitin tool in a sample Canvas course.
  • Distinguish between using the external tool and using the plagiarism framework in Canvas when setting up a Turnitin assignment.
  • Discuss the limitations of Turnitin.
